Greeting Cards Debut by Melody Brooke

I am thrilled to introduce my new greeting cards! These cards were born from a blend of my passions—poetry, photography, and the art of collage. Inspired by my Aunt’s drawings sold at Neman’s during the 1970s-90s, I embarked on this creative journey.

Holiday Bliss in Prague

The first card captures the essence of a serene holiday moment. It features a photograph I took during last Christmas in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The stunning image, taken at sunset in a beautiful park, required no alterations except for cropping. The sight of the sun setting over the churches created a breathtaking scene, radiating peace, love, and sheer beauty. Though inherently Christian with its cross, this card embodies a universal theme of celebrating love.

“Missy and Friends”: A Tribute to Friendship

The second card showcases one of my photographic collages titled “Missy and Friends.” It pays homage to a cherished childhood friend who played an integral role in my life. Despite our paths diverging in adulthood and the eventual dissolution of our relationship due to my unawareness of its impact, my affection for her remains profound. This artwork encapsulates the myriad of emotions and experiences tied to our bond—a heartfelt wish expressed through this Friendship card.

The Gratitude of Big Sur

The Thank You card emerged from a photographic collage capturing the essence of Big Sur, California, specifically the renowned Esalen Retreat Center. Since my teenage years, I’ve been captivated by the teachings of philosophers like Alan Watts, who aimed to bridge Eastern and Western philosophies. This longing led me to Esalen after five decades, and upon arrival, the breathtaking gardens overlooking Big Sur’s cliffs struck a chord deep within. This collage, titled “All Roads,” encapsulates the spirit of gratitude and forgiveness, echoing the belief that gratitude leads to inner peace, a sentiment echoed in this Thank You card and available as both wall art and fashion pieces.
